Wassulu, Samorys, Reich, ehemals Mandingostaat, im obern Nigergebiet (Franz.-Westafrika), bewohnt von Mandingo und Fulbe. In den vierziger Jahren des 19. Jahrh. gründete Amadu ein größeres Reich, das nach seinem Tode wieder zerfiel; später erneuerte ein Krieger, Samory aus Banankoro, das Reich, mußte aber 1887 die Schutzherrschaft der Franzosen anerkennen, die er dann wiederholt bekämpfte, 1898 gefangen, starb er 2. Juni 1900.
